Asian short-clawed otter
Aonyx cinereus
The Asian short clawed otter is native to South and Southeast Asia and is the smallest otter species.
It has short claws that do not extend beyond the pads of its webbed digits. They have webbed feet and tiny, nibble claws with opposable thumbs which makes them excellent foragers.
The Asian short clawed otter mates for life and the pair work together to raise their offspring, sharing responsibilities, including building dens, hunting for food and caring for their pups.
