It is with great sadness that following the latest government advice we declare this zoo to be closed for the foreseeable future as from 22nd March 2020.
Being situated in the East Yorkshire coast and people moving into their holiday homes, we do not want to encourage the unnecessary movement of people around the country, which could spread the coronavirus and overwhelm our rural health service.
This is going to be a difficult time for us as we rely on ticket sales and experience sales to pay for the huge running costs of this establishment. We are a ‘not for profit’ business and Paul and Alison, the owners don’t take a wage from the park.
We have an amazing, dedicated team here that will do their best to carry on caring for our 200+ animals in the best way they can. We will have to reduce to a skeleton crew if staff go into self isolation and we will have to get very creative in how we raise funds for animal feed and the inevitable medical bills. If anybody has a surplus of fruit and vegetables then please feel free to drop them off at our gate, should you be able to.
With your support we can get through this. We will do our best to keep you entertained with pictures, videos, live-streams and updates on how our animals are doing but, now more than ever, we need your help. Please renew your season ticket, should you need to, look at our Amazon wish list or book an animal experience for later on in the summer. This is also a time when we can get on with some serious building works so if you would like to make a sizeable donation and sponsor an enclosure then please let us know.
We have confidence that we will still be here when restrictions are lifted, but it is only the overwhelming support we have had in the past for all that we do here and all that we are trying to achieve that gives us hope.
We hope that you all stay safe, stay at home, stay healthy and we will see you later in the Summer with happy smiling faces.
Love from all the staff and animals xxx
